To control the robots using their smartphone, you will have to install Dabble from Play Store.
Since the evive Starter Kit is a beginner robotics kit, the minimum age is as low as 8 years. But of course, if you are Dexter, then you could use it anytime after you've started walking. ;)
The book consists of 24+ DIY STEM and robot building projects with lucid self-explanatory instructions for making them.

Apart from the projects given in the book, one can also turn to our project hub, online courses, and other STEM learning resources for a complete first-hand STEM experience.
Other development boards like the Arduino and Raspberry Pi are no doubt great places to start. But these are of limited use without accessories. One will require tons of sensors, will have to invest money in purchasing shields for every other thing, deal with unnecessarily complex circuits which may not be very difficult to make for an experienced person but extremely hectic to debug for everyone, need to have a decent programming background, all of which consumes a lot of time and leads to spending a lot while making projects.
evive, on the other hand, is an extremely power-packed and versatile prototyping platform, with features worth over $300 built-in, be it plug-and-play control for actuators, a built-in audio-visual interface, ammeter and voltmeter functions, basic oscilloscope functions, built-in BLE/ ESP/ XBee ports, etc. If one has a decent experience already, evive would be sufficient for your learning-building-debugging needs. If still a beginner, the evive Starter Kit is one of the best robot kits for kids.
evive is an OSH (open source hardware) and can be programmed using languages such as Scratch and Arduino. We have also provided instructions to use it with complex applications like Matlab, LabView, etc.
evive has inbuilt 2600mAh 3.7V Samsung Li-ion battery. Normally it runs for about 6-8 hours once fully charged, while it takes a similar time for charging using a USB charger (mobile phone charger) or any other power source.
The evive Starter kit comes with a ~100-page book through which kids can start learning electronics, programming, and robotics very easily. evive has many inbuilt input-output modules like We also have a very resourceful learning center, a vast treasury of learning resources where you can find online courses, tutorials, example projects, discussion forums, etc. to help you get started and keep learning.

All these multidisciplinary fields are linked together with experiential learning methodology to inculcate creativity, problem-solving skills, logical reasoning, innovativeness, etc. The evive Starter is a beginner robotics kit designed for kids to dirty their hands in making real-life stuff using a Do-it-Yourself project book.
evive has over-current and reverse voltage protection at power input. Beginners who don’t understand about polarity would not damage the board. In most of the cases, evive temporarily switches itself off in case of a short-circuit. Battery charging-discharging circuit has over-current, under-voltage protection to take care of the Li-ion battery. We have put our best efforts to make evive safe for everyone, but in case anything happens, the insulated plastic covering will ensure the safety of the user.
evive has its own inbuilt 2600mAh Samsung Li-on battery. It can also be powered up externally by a USB wall charger, power bank, DC wall adapter, laptops/ workstations, and >12V batteries.
evive has a fixed 5V/3A supply, a fixed 3.3V/0.8A supply, and a variable voltage supply from 1.25V to 30V with a fixed current supply of 3A.

I bought this for my 9yr old because he wanted to build a robot. It was so much fun to assemble it. Now, he keeps on playing around with the app to control the robot. The best part was that coding it was super easy. And the resources to do it are great too I highly recommend it.

There is something very special here. We’ve been using a lot of different STEM kits in our classes for a long time. However, each kit we’ve used was always lacking in one or two areas. Either the kit was too simple for kids to put together or it was too closed to adding our own components.
Evive has solved both of those problems. Not only that, its potential is off the charts!! If you are looking for an amazing kit that will challenge your children I can’t recommend Evive enough. It’s great for kids just starting in robotics. But the best part about Evive is that it will grow with your child. You can easily add your own components to create endless amounts of inventions.
As an added bonus, the curriculum is absolutely amazing!!

My wife and I teach STEM topics in various clubs sponsored by our church. Over the last three years, we’ve done several STEM Engineering and Coding clubs. In 2021, we are starting a Robotics club and have selected the Evive Starter Kit for the first semester. We selected Evive because of the frustration our students had with various robotics kits. These frustrations included limited programming capabilities, lack of mechanical versatility, and difficulty troubleshooting problems. In preparation for our new club, we’re working through the tutorials provided on the STEMpedia site. The Evive is at the heart of the tutorials and I’ve found it to be an amazingly versatile device. It supports several types of sensors, controls motors, and features a wiring breadboard. In addition the Evive provides an excellent interface for pin readouts, and troubleshooting. When we have had trouble, the tech support staff has been very helpful. I highly recommend STEMpedia and especially the Evive Starter Kit.
