CBSE has recently introduced Artificial Intelligence (AI) Subject Code 417 for classes 9th and 10th and AI Subject Code 843 for classes 11th and 12th. Students will gain knowledge, skills, and values to understand AI and its implications for our society and the world, as well as to use AI to solve real-world problems now and in the future. Students will interact with a variety of multimedia online resources, as well as hands-on activities and a progression of learning experiences.
Artificial Intelligence is introduced as a subject in CBSE class 6th and 12th with the aim to develop 21st century skills in students while providing them Hands-on experience or practical activity based approach to make them understand AI Applications and Methodologies and its real life implications.
The Central Board of Secondary Education has introduced Artificial Intelligence as a skill subject. As a beginning in this direction, CBSE is introducing Artificial Intelligence as an optional 6th subject at Class IX from the Session 2019-2020 onwards. At Secondary Level, a Skill subject may be offered as an additional sixth subject along with the existing five compulsory subjects. If any student fails in any one of the three elective subject (i.e. Science, Mathematics and Social Science), then it will be replaced by the Skill subject (offered as a 6th subject) and the result of Class X will be computed based on the best five subjects. However, if a candidate desires to reappear in the failed subject, he/she may appear along with the compartment examination.
As per the revised Affiliation Bye-laws of the Board, a school does not have to apply separately for introducing any additional subject(s), including Skill subject(s), except Physics, Chemistry and/or Biology. The school shall fill the details in the OASIS form and provide the required details.

The Council for the Indian School Certificate Examinations (CISCE) has announced plans to include artificial intelligence (AI), robotics, machine learning (ML), and data science in the ICSE and ISC curriculum. The Council for Indian School Certificate Examinations (CISCE) will introduce two new subjects– artificial intelligence and robotics – in ICSE (Classes IX and X) and ISC (XI and XII) curriculum from the new academic year 2023.
CISCE has introduced Robotics and Artificial Intelligence (Subject Code 66) in ICSE (Classes IX and X) and ISC (XI and XII) curricula from the new academic year 2023. The students will appear for the exam with these newly introduced subjects in Indian Certificate of Secondary Education (ICSE) in 2025 and in Indian School Certificates (ISC) in 2026.
The CISCE has the following objectives to introduce Artificial Intelligence and Robotics as a subject:
- To develop an understanding of concepts and applications in Robotics and Artificial Intelligence (AI).
- To develop competencies in Robotics and AI via classroom instruction, laboratory and self directed project-based learning approach.
- To facilitate appreciation, understanding and application of concepts of Robotics and AI through learning and engaging in hands-on activities.

It comes with skill-based courses on coding, robotics and artificial intelligence to get hands-on experience. We ensure yearlong hand holding and support to impart the BEST coding, AI, and robotics education with Practical Activities in your school.
The marking for Robotics and Artificial Intelligence Subject will be done in two parts
- Internal Marking of 100 Marks
Students are expected to do a minimum of 20 assignments during the year to reinforce concepts studied in class. The details are as follows:
Evaluation of programming assignments will be done as follows:

– Subject Teacher (Internal Examiner) 50 marks
– External Examiner 50 marks
2. Theory of 100 Marks including all the topics listed in the syllabus of Robotics and AI, students have to complete the paper in 2 hours.
